Flashback – 11/2/1988 – On this day in history, cybersecurity (or the need for it) was born when a Cornell student named Robert T. Morris introduced a self-replicating worm into ARPANET, the predecessor of today’s internet. Morris said the worm was designed to measure the size of ARPANET, but instead it caused denial of service for 6,000 machines, about 10% of all computers connected to ARPANET.
