Laura Kessel has joined the Hardy Telecommunications Board of Directors in the newly created position of a second Director-at-Large, effective February 1, 2024.
Ms. Kessel was named to the Director-at-Large position by the rest of the board members. The board recently voted to establish a second at-large slot, citing the importance of introducing new people to the board with varied viewpoints. As Director-at-Large, Ms. Kessel does not come from a specific part of Hardy Telecommunications’ coverage area but rather the entire region, and she will serve a typical three-year term and be eligible for re-election as with any other board position.
Ms. Kessel is a Hardy County native with longstanding family ties throughout the Hardy Telecommunications area. She graduated from West Virginia University with her Masters in Accounting in 2009. She plans to bring that financial background and experience to the Hardy Tel board for the benefit of the cooperative’s members and customers. She lives on her family’s farm in Fisher with her husband Niles and daughter Abigail.
She attended her first board meeting in February and already has visited the Moorefield and Lost River offices. She will continue to familiarize herself with the company’s operations and employees as she settles into her new position. We thank Laura for her dedication to Hardy Telecommunications and welcome her to the Board!
