Hardy Telecommunications recently donated $250 to become a Signature Sponsor of the 2017 Relay for Life of the Potomac Valley.
Derek Barr, Hardy’s director of customer service and sales, marketing and human resources, presented the check to Relay for Life Sponsorship Coordinator Rose Mullins at Hardy’s Moorefield office. The monetary amount denotes a Signature Level sponsorship of the event.
“Although great strides have been made in the fight against cancer, it still claims far too many lives and affects us all,” Derek said. “There is a long way to go, but as long as cancer still exists in our world, we are proud to contribute to the cause.”
This year’s Relay for Life of the Potomac Valley event is scheduled for August 12 at the Moorefield Town Park. The day includes activities designed to promote cancer awareness and prevention, with teams taking turns walking together around a track. The night usually is highlighted by the cancer survivors’ and caregivers’ walk and the luminaria ceremony, when candles are lit inside personalized bags to honor and support those who have fought or are fighting the disease. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
Ms. Mullins thanked Hardy Telecommunications for the donation and said the Relay for Life event is important to keep the fight against cancer in the public eye.
“We want the cancer patients to know that there are people in the community who care about them and want them to know that they matter,” she said.
