Two Hardy Telecommunications directors were re-elected at the 2016 Annual Meeting of Members on Friday, October 7, at the East Hardy High School gymnasium. Each director will serve a new three-year term.
Greg Zirk, the current president of the board, will continue to serve as the board representative from Moorefield Serving Area 2. He has been on the board since 2006. Gerald Smith will return to the board as the representative from Lost River Serving Area 1. Gerald is in his 42nd year on the board. Both men were re-elected by acclamation.
About 450 people were on hand for the meeting. The East Hardy High Band Boosters and FFA served a pork barbecue meal with potatoes and green beans. A local Boy Scout troop also helped during the meeting. Members walking into the meeting were able to watch Hardy OneNet on a new television set up in the cafeteria for EHHS students and faculty.
Hardy General Manager/CEO Scott Sherman gave an update on the OneNet fiber-to-the-home network. Since the federal portion of the project ended last July, Hardy has spent more than $1.5 million in capital expenditures to expand the service to new customers. Hardy has installed OneNet at more than 800 homes and businesses since the federal project ended and made fiber available to another 355 locations during that time.
We thank everyone who attended our 2016 Annual Meeting!
