E-Care Users Should Check Internet Protocol Compatibility

Hardy’s E-Care vendor is making upgrades to its product for better online security. Older computers using older browsers might experience a problem accessing E-Care starting June 28, 2020. Computers using a modern browser on Windows 10 computers should be fine. Most Windows 7 computers also should not pose an issue as long as the latest browser versions are installed.

The issue concerns TLS 1.1, a telecommunications protocol started in 1999. It is no longer considered secure, and our vendor is removing support for it. So customers need to make sure that their computers and browsers are set up to use TLS 1.2 or later.

There is an easy way to do this. Click the following link: https://clienttest.ssllabs.com:8443/ssltest/viewMyClient.html

This will test your browser and let you know if it is compliant with TLS 1.2 or later protocol. (Note that if your system is behind a firewall or similar program, the results might be inconclusive. Check the Protocol Features listings on the page.) If not, you should upgrade your browser or Windows version before June 28, 2020. As of that date, E-Care will not be compatible with the older insecure TLS 1.1 protocol.
