Hardy Telecommunications currently is accepting applications for the position of Fiber-Optic Technician. This position will work with our Outside Plant, Tech and Engineering teams. The focus of the job will be servicing our Hardy OneNet fiber-optic network. Fiber splicing experience is preferred; otherwise, willingness to learn fiber-optic splicing is a must. This position will work throughout our service territory.
Working with the Fiber Projects Manager and Engineering Supervisor, the Fiber-Optic Technician will:
- Splice fiber-optic cable.
- Repair and maintain Outside Plant facilities, including poles, underground services, and conduit.
- Lay cable, conduit and fiber innerduct.
- Locate and mark path and depth of underground cables, wires and drops.
- Repair/replace cable-related defects.
- Install and troubleshoot telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber-optic, copper, fixed wireless and any other equipment.
- Install and troubleshoot customer-premise telecommunications equipment, including terminals, routers, and any other equipment.
- Evaluate telecommunications facilities, such as poles, in an area for possible OneNet network expansion.
- Provide basic technical support for Hardy equipment.
