In rugby, a scrum is a little like the line of scrimmage in football: it represents the restart of the action after a penalty, where the teams come together – directed by their quarterback – to take individual action that advances the work of the whole team. The scrum master for projects is basically the quarterback (and the coach!), guiding the efforts of each “player” in concert with the team’s goals to ensure success.
